2016 The Year of Telemedicine:

Consulting with the doctor in 21 century shouldn’t be the same as it was 50 years ago, that’s where telehealth steps in.

Telehealth can save time, cut costs, and make better healthcare more accessible.
You’ve probably heard the word telehealth/telemedicine before and you’re going to hear it a lot more in the coming year. Telehealth is simply where technology (Software or Hardware) meets healthcare.
Telemedicine / Telehealth allows health care providers to evaluate, diagnose and treat patients in remote locations using Information Communication Technology Telemedicine allows patients in remote locations to access medical expertise quickly, efficiently and without travel. Telemedicine provides more efficient use of limited expert resources who can "see" patients in multiple locations wherever they are needed without leaving their facility.
Telemedicine comes in 3 different modes
  1. Store and Forward
  2. Live consultation
  3. Imaging
For Video consultation to doctor’s appointment that’s done online instead of at the office; Doctor can diagnose patient on a Video call with Specialized Telemedicine software; this lets the sick stay home, which reduces contamination and complication risks. Patients answer questions online, list their symptoms and it is sent to the healthcare provider who promptly reviews it and gives a response (Store and Forward) and they can also share Images online like x-ray and ultra sound for reporting

A recent study found that telehealth can save millions of dollars in various ways, including lowering the costs of patient co-pays. The more convenient way to get care also helps doctors cut costs by eliminating the risk of no-show appointments. Telehealth is also successful when it comes to getting healthcare to people in rural areas of Asia and Africa, Without it, those people wouldn’t have easy access or would have to travel far to be seen by a doctor.
Telehealth can be a great asset to healthcare organizations because it reduces cost, increases access, and puts healthcare professionals where they are need most, in front of patients. Telehealth is a critical component in the expansion of the healthcare industry, and the best way you can spread excellent care
